Vocation Story: I started seriously discerning the priesthood during my last two years of high school. Around that time, I realized two great things about the vocation that inspired me to consider it more. First, I became aware of how much priests can impact other’s lives for the better through the sacraments and exemplifying God’s word. Second, I realized that priests experience lots of joy, as I saw through Fr. Mike Keucher and Fr. Glenn O’Connor. So, the priesthood became a more desirable option for me. But it wasn’t the only option. I was also considering environmentalism since it was another way to serve others and God. I considered both paths for a while; finally, I decided to follow the priesthood route. God helped me to this conclusion because of a quote of St. Paul’s, that He reminded me of during discernment one day: It says, “the things of this earth are passing away.” I realized I could work to save an environment that is temporary, or I could work to save souls, which isn’t temporary at all. One’s relationship with God is forever, and I want to help others cultivate that relationship. That’s why I decided to enter seminary and begin discerning the priesthood.
