Vocation Story: I am a convert to Catholicism. I used to be Lutheran Missouri Synod and came into the Catholic Church when I was almost 21. My coming into the Catholic faith goes within my discernment. My discernment started when I was 16 when I thought of the question, "What if I was a pastor?" I rejected the question and went on my way. By the time I was 18, that same question would not go away. So I took it seriously and discerned being a pastor. During this time, I was still Lutheran, but already believed in Transubstantiation. I was going to visit Concordia Lutheran Seminary in Fort Wayne, but I got very ill and it did not work out. My brother-in-law, who is a Lutheran pastor, and my old Lutheran pastor were two people who made an impact on me. They would take Holy Communion to the sick and I would think, That's Awesome! I would love to do things like that! Even before I became Catholic, I had already started discerning priesthood by going to 2 discernment events the winter before I came into the church. I have been Catholic for two and a half years now. From the time I became Catholic I started going to adoration. We have an adoration chapel at our church and I would have a time every week to be with Our Lord and do a rosary. Having adoration of the Blessed Sacrament was huge for my discernment as well as getting involved in my parish: teaching and serving. The main part of my discernment is centered in the Eucharist and continues strong with the prayers of Our Lady. Mary's intercession is a huge part of my discernment. I went to Ivy Tech Community College for a couple years and transferred to Bishop Simon Brute College Seminary. I wouldn't have ever guessed I would be here 3 years ago. You never know what the Lord is going to do in your life. I have comfort in my discernment and can't wait what The Lord is going to do next. God's will be done.
